Happy days for Napoli: Osimhen is fit, Mazzarri is back and Kvara scores

Experienced coach Walter Mazzarri secured a 2-1 victory against Atalanta on his second debut as Napoli head coach. The man returned to Naples after nearly a decade and raised some eyebrows in Italy, but his start on the blue bench was a happy one.

There was a welcome sight of Victor Osimhen back on the pitch and the Nigerian played his part in the game, setting up the winning goal for Elif Elmas after Ademola Lookman had cancelled out Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's opener.

The game began quietly, but Napoli took the lead when Kvara scored from a cross by captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Atalanta fought back in the second half, with the diminutive Nigerian Lookman, of all people, netting a header to equalize. The African playmaker has now contributed to four goals in his last five league games for La Dea.

Mario Pasalic thought he had given Atalanta the lead, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Napoli then seized the win late in the game as Elmas found the net.

With this win, Napoli moves up to third place, while Atalanta, led by coach Gian Piero Gasperini, suffers their fourth consecutive defeat against Napoli and loses ground in the top-four race in Serie A.
