Harambee Starlets midfielder says squad not used to new food in French camp

The 20-year-old's sentiments comes days after Kenyan sprinter Omanyala had treated them to some home delicacies in his surprise visit
Harambee Starlets attacking midfielder Fasila Adhiambo says the team’s training in Miramas, France is going on smoothly, this despite the players not being used to the new food.

Adhiambo, speaking to FKF Media on Wednesday, 22 July, was effusive of Starlets’ preparations ahead of their participation at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, but stressed a particular hiccup on their dinner table.
“Our experience here in France has been good; everyone is fighting, even though there are things we are not used to like food,” the Simba Queens player stated.
While Mozzart Sport could not ascertain which food(s) Adhiambo was referring to, the publication is well aware that Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala had earlier this week visited the team in camp, bringing along a variety of Kenyan meals including: ugali and chapati.

It well could be that the amount presented was not enough to last Starlets’ entire stay in camp, with their departure for WAFCON set for Thursday, 23 July.
Despite a lack of home delicacies, the former Ulinzi Starlets player expects a breakthrough campaign from herself, in what will be her maiden WAFCON tournament.
“As a winger, I personally expect to whip in a lot of crosses,” Adhiambo, also captain of the Kenya U20 Women’s National Team - Rising Starlets - said. “God willing, a goal will be a plus for me, and this being a first tournament for me, I expect a lot from my self. It is my hope that I will do my job well, because the coaches have instilled trust in me.”
In Morocco, Kenya find themselves in a tough Group A, which will see them come up against the hosts, Algeria and Senegal.
In their WAFCON debut in 2016, Harambee Starlets bounced out of the group stages without a win or a point.
As per striker Marion Serenge, the narrative for this campaign is different.
“All through camp, we have all been aiming at making it through to the semifinals, and that is what we intend to do. Get that, and we will also be through to the World Cup,” she said.
