This follows a CECAFA communication that Senegal had encountered logistical time constraints just a day to the games

Kenya’s matches in the upcoming CECAFA Four Nations Tournament scheduled to run from Monday, 21 to Sunday, 27 July, at the Karatu Stadium in Arusha, Tanzania have been rescheduled, following a CECAFA announcement on Sunday, 20 July.

In a brief statement, the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA)noted that reigning Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) winners Senegal had a day to the tournament encountered logistical time constraints, effectively affecting their fixtures, and those of their opponents.

As a result, Tanzania’s opening match against the West Africans has been pushed forward, together with Kenya’s duel with Uganda on the same day.

Kenya’s Harambee Stars will now open their friendlies with a clash against hosts Tanzania on Monday, 21 July, before facing Senegal on Thursday, 24 July.

Their initial opener against Uganda will now be played on the final day of the tournament on Sunday, 27 July.

The tournament, which will be played in a round-robin structure, is being viewed as a crucial warm-up for next month’s 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN), replacing the previously proposed CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Harambee Stars, who will host their CHAN matches at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, landed in Arusha on Saturday, 19 July, and head coach Benni McCarthy believes their three friendlies there will give him ideas on what to work on.

“It is a good tournament to gauge our preparedness for CHAN,” McCarthy said on Friday. “We are going to face formidable opponents, and that will clearly show us what is working and what needs to be fixed.”
