The former Kakamega Homeboyz forward took to life in Zambia like a duck to water, extending the hot streak that had seen him finish as the 2024/25 FKF Premier League top scorer with 17 goals.
In a detailed statement released on Thursday, 25 June, Dynamos confirmed Shumah's departure despite having a year left on his contract.
"Shumah has completed a transfer to South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side AmaZulu FC after the Club reached an agreement with the Durban-based outfit. Although he had a year remaining on his contract, the striker has opted to join the South African outfit.
Shumah joined Power Dynamos from Kakamega Homeboyz in July last year and enjoyed a breakthrough season at Arthur Davies Stadium, winning the MTN Super League Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals. He departs the Club having scored 23 goals in all competitions during his time with Power Dynamos," read the statement in part.
The 23-year-old's move to Zambia proved to be another significant step in his rapidly rising career.
Shumah enjoyed a sensational debut season with Power Dynamos, establishing himself as one of the most lethal forwards in the league.
He scored an impressive 23 goals across all competitions, performances that earned him the league's Golden Boot award as well as the club's Fans' Player of the Season accolade.
His goals played a pivotal role in Power Dynamos' title-winning campaign as the club secured its maiden back-to-back Zambian Super League crowns, further cementing Shumah's reputation as one of East Africa's most prolific strikers.
While the financial details of the transfer have not been disclosed, the Kenya international departs Power Dynamos with a year still remaining on his contract, marking the beginning of another exciting chapter in his blossoming career.
Shumah is now expected to join his new teammates at AmaZulu ahead of the upcoming season as preparations gather pace for the new campaign.
AmaZulu enjoyed a strong 2025/26 season, finishing fourth in the PSL standings, 15 points behind champions Orlando Pirates.
The Durban-based side will be hoping Shumah's proven goalscoring ability can bolster their ambitions as they seek to challenge for domestic honours in the forthcoming campaign.
