Harambee Stars motionless in the latest FIFA Rankings

Following an underwhelming COSAFA Cup tournament in South Africa, Kenya have stagnated in the latest FIFA Rankings released on Thursday 18 July.

Harambee Stars now need only 1.11 points before the next rankings to surpass Guatemala who are ranked a place above Kenya.

COSAFA Cup, which counts in the FIFA Rankings saw Kenya win their opening game against Zambia but lost to Comoros and went on to win their final game against Zimbabwe.

The patchy results saw Kenya fail to qualify for the semi finals of the tournament after they exited at the group stage hurdle following their loss to Comoros.

In the CAF rankings, Harambee Stars are currently 25th, just four places below fellow CECAFA nation, Uganda who dropped a place after being inactive in the last FIFA international window.

Neighbours, Tanzania are closing in on Kenya in the rankings as they currently stand at 113th and having gained a place despite also not featuring in the last window.

Reining world champions Argentina still occupy the summit of the rankings after successfully retaining their Copa America title after beating Colombia in the final.

2022 FIFA World Cup finalists France come in second while new European champions Spain climb up to third with England, Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia and Italy completing the top 10.

Morocco remains the best ranked African side despite dropping two places with Senegal, Egypt, Ivory Coast and Nigeria rounding up the top five.

Venezuela are the highest climbers having scaled up 17 places while Czech who had a disappointing Euros 2024 are the biggest droppers having plummeted 13 places.
