Aymeric Laporte joins Al-Nassr for $30 million
It's a funny world. Aymeric Laporte joined Al-Nassr after falling out of favour at Manchester City, the club he had joined in January 2018 as the Sky Blues' record signing when he arrived from Athletic Club for $62 million. However, as it often happens to Pep Guardiola's players, they fall out of the first-team picture at the Etihad and have no choice but to move.
Laporte signed a three-year contract with the yellow-blues and will reportedly earn $27 million per season. Not bad for a bench-warmer!

But let's not feel sorry for the Spanish international just yet. He is the latest high-profile player to move to Al-Nassr, joining Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles and Seko Fofana at the club. Some might say he's going to the desert, but he's really going for a big payday in the newly-established footballing land of plenty.
"It has lasted five-and-a-half unforgettable years. Plenty of memories that I will keep forever close to my heart. From trophies to setbacks, victories to injuries, it's all been part of my journey, and I'm grateful for absolutely every moment that shaped me into who I am today. It was an honour and a pleasure to wear these colours, and I hope you will remember me in a good way. I will always be a City fan. I look forward to seeing you all again."
Laporte won 13 major titles at City before sealing the move away for just under half the amount the English club had paid for him in 2018. The 29-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at City, with new signing Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake ahead of him as left-sided defenders in the new three-man backline.
