Heaven becomes the hell for Mancester United

Besides great victory against Leicester, United's game was marked by injury of young defender

Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven was forced to leave the pitch after suffering an injury in his first Premier League start against Leicester.

Heaven, who joined the Red Devils from Arsenal in a 1 million transfer in January, felt pain at King Power Stadium after coming into contact with Patson Daka. The youngster immediately collapsed in pain and signaled to the bench, and despite receiving treatment from the medical team, he was ultimately forced to leave the field. He was replaced by Toby Collyer.

The 18-year-old appeared to have injured his ankle while playing a back pass for a goal kick, following an attacking move by Jamie Vardy inside United’s penalty area. He made his senior debut for United on Thursday in their Europa League win against Real Sociedad, and thanks to his strong performance, he retained his spot in the starting XI against Leicester.

After the match, Ruben Amorim addressed the condition of the young defender:

"It's hard to know because we have to evaluate during the week. Even when he was on the ground, he couldn't speak and didn’t know how to explain what he was feeling because he's so young. He already played well against Arsenal and Real Sociedad. Today, for me, was the most difficult game for him because we expected him to relax a bit, but he was so focused."

Amorim had previously praised Heaven after his impressive performance against Sociedad but remained grounded, emphasizing that the youngster still has room to improve:

"If he continues like that, he is going to play. Of course, he is young and hasn’t played much this season—maybe only 45 minutes for the Under-21s, then a few minutes here, and now a full game. I really like his confidence. I like his pace, I think he is good at defending the box, and I think he is quite complete. But he has a lot of work to do in the Premier League."
