The former Manchester United goalie is wanted back in Spain

David de Gea, who has been a free agent since he departed from Manchester United in June, is reportedly being considered by La Liga clubs Real Betis and Valencia for a potential return to Spain. Despite earlier links to clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, De Gea's future had remained uncertain.

Betis and Valencia are reportedly interested in securing the services of the 32-year-old goalkeeper. De Gea has a wealth of experience and a successful career behind him, and his return to Spain could allow him to continue playing regular first-team football. It remains to be seen whether he will agree to lower his enormous wage demands and accept a call from his homeland.

According to reports in Spain, Real Betis is leading the race to sign the goalie. Valencia is keen, but the Andalucian club is considered the more likely destination for the Spain international. Manuel Pellegrini, the former Manchester City manager who now manages Real Betis, is searching for a new goalkeeper.

When the long-serving Manchester United custodian left Old Trafford, he posted a message to all Manchester United supporters saying he'll look for a new challenge.

"I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We've achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. Now, it's the right time to undertake a new challenge to push myself again in new surroundings. Manchester will always be in my heart. Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me. We've seen it all."
