Antonio Rudiger will earn $11.75 million per year in Madrid

Real Madrid are the biggest club for a reason. When they want a player to pull on their shirt, there is precious little the others can do about it. Los Blancos flexed their muscles and secured the signature of Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger - and the numbers are insane.

The Royal Club initially tried to sign the German defender a year ago, but the Champions League win prolonged Rudiger's stay at Stamford Bridge for a while. However, Chelsea failed to extend his contract and will not receive a transfer fee.

Although the move is a free transfer, that's only in terms of a transfer fee. For the Spanish club - it's anything but free. When you factor in the agents' commissions and additional expenses, Real Madrid will splash around $62 million to secure the experienced defender.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel publicly conceded that his club failed in attempts to keep Rudiger and that 'nobody likes' the fact that the former Stuttgart man will depart London. But it's what it is - Chelsea aren't allowed to spend money and Real are all too happy to do it. Money talks, after all.

The Spanish giants are getting a trusted and tried world-class player and believe that their investment is a shrewd one.

Rudiger, on the other hand, will earn around $11 million less than what his initial demands were, but there is no doubt that he'll learn to live with the fact that he'll have 'only' $47 million added to his bank account.
