Apparently, it's Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to blame for not seeing the current Liverpool boss at Allianz Arena

Uli Hoeness, the former Bayern Munich president, has revealed that Jurgen Klopp was under the Bavarains' radar for a long time. However, he never became their coach, and the guy to blame for it is, apparently, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, then-CEO of the club.

Speaking to German NTV, Hoeness said the job was almost done in 2007, but they went for the other solutions in the end.

"We agreed that he (Jurgen Klopp) would come to Bayern. Before he left Mainz, I spoke to him (Klopp) before Christmas to see if he could imagine going to Bayern."

According to Hoeness, the Reds' coach said he could imagine himself there.

"Then I said that I'll call him on January 7th, after the Christmas holidays. And then Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had the great idea of signing Jurgen Klinsmann," explains Hoeness with some undistilled irony.

Hoeness says that Klopp was always on their minds regardless of such an outcome.

"I could always have imagined him at Bayern Munich because I think he's an outstanding coach."
