Odiwuor says his side has to start performing consistently soon

Kakamega Homeboyz defender George Odiwuor says his team will have to turn things around soon to avoid dropping further in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) table.

Homeboyz are currently seventh in the FKF Premier League table with 20 points after 16 rounds of matches. They could however drop further by the end of week 17 games with teams just behind them in the table playing on Sunday.

The Kakamega-based team lost to Kariobangi Sharks by a solitary goal on Friday and the defender understands why they have to turn things around soonest.

When you look at the league table right now it’s very tight because if you lose games you can easily drop down by several positions and as such, we need to start performing consistently soon, we must win our next game if we are to achieve our targets this season," he said. We will go back to the drawing board and plan for our next match and the second leg in general,” the former Vihiga United man told Mozzart Sport.

Reflecting on the game against William Muluya’s side, Odiwuor believes that based on the chances created, they should have won the Utalii Grounds clash.

“We should have beaten Sharks. We dominated the game, had the best chances of the game especially in the second half but we failed to convert them and in the end, they picked all the three points, that’s how football works if you don’t take your chances you get punished. But credit to them, they did so well defensively to ensure that we did not get a goal,” he added.

Homeboyz’s next assignment will be a home game against Western Stima and the historic Bukhungu Stadium. The match will be played on Saturday 22nd May.
