Bernard Mwalala's side lost the title on goal difference.

Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Michael Isabwa is hoping to turn last season’s agony into success in the coming campaign after drawing important lessons.

The Kakamega-based club missed out on the 2021-2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) by the barest of margins as Tusker clinched it by virtue of a superior goal difference.

Isabwa is hoping to right their wrongs after capitulating in the final 10 games as they saw the title slip off their hands adding that every player in the team has picked up valuable lessons.

“We have learned as a team that the league is played until the final whistle of the final game, we will approach the new season in a very different way.

Every player has learned something from what happened last season and we will try to rectify what we did wrong in the last season,” said Isabwa.

The club has however been rocked by a reported mass exodus with a number of players rumored to be on their way out to the exit doors.

The former Vihiga Bullets midfielder added that losing the title was tough to bear especially after being handed walkovers in their final two games of the season.

“It really hurt losing the title by goal difference but football has its ups and downs, we did not perform well in our final five games but what really hurt was getting walkovers in their final two games when we were looking for goals.

Every player was mad at the Caretaker Committee for allow two walkovers against us in such a manner in two crucial games,” added Isabwa.
