Wankuru broke his left toe while in training
Injured Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Abdallah Wankuru has thrown in the towel in his bid to play competitive football again this season.
Wankuru suffered a fractured left toe in February while in training and was consequently ruled out for two months.
However, the midfielder who joined Homeboyz at the start of the season from Western Stima says the injury has worriedly worsened despite getting treatment both in Kenya and Tanzania.

The talented midfielder who signed for Homeboyz has had a rather slow start to life in his new surroundings.

Wankuru who opted to recuperate under the care of his mother who works and lives in Tanzania revealed that the fracture was giving him sleepless nights and predicted a longer stay on the sidelines owing to the pain and shape of the toe.
The play maker who crossed the border with the blessings from Homeboyz bosses revealed that he was scheduled to return home next month for further assessment.
"I don't see myself playing football again this season thanks to the fracture. Initially, the doctor had given me at least two months to heal, instead the injury exacerbated. I requested the club to allow me seek a second opinion from Tanzania but still the progress is stolid. ," he narrated.
The former Sony Sugar midfielder in the meantime thanked Homeboyz honchos and teammates for regularly checking on him and offering him moral support from the time he was ruled out. Despite the setback, Wankuru who is christened as Sandro vowed to come back stronger and repay the support Homeboyz have afforded him with superb performances.
" An injury is every player's nightmare but I am certain i will overcome it and return to the pitch. Homeboyz have supported me throughout and the only way to show gratitude is to shake the injury off and give one hundred percent upon recovery," he added.
