How bizarre: Villa dominate and Spurs celebrate a 4-0 victory thanks to Son's hattrick

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 09.04.22. | 21:27

Steven Gerrard's slot created lots of clear cut chances, especially in the first half, but Hugo Lloris was unbreakable. And then came Son

You can be fooled when you see 4-0 for the Spurs on the scoreboard, assuming it was a one-sided match at Villa Park. And it was, indeed, but in the other direction - the hosts, Aston Villa, were the dominant side in the first half, created half a dozen promising extraordinary chances but failed to convert that into at least a single-goal lead!

And they suffered severe punishment for it almost instantly, conceding not one, not two, not three, but four goals for a brutal 4-0 home loss.

Three of those were the work of art of remarkable Heung-min Son, who's transformed into one of the best forwards in the world. His hattrick was much-deserved and now serves as a lecture for his Villa counterparts on how the job should be done in the opponents' box.

Moreover, Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris was marvellous, making as many as seven incredible saves in the first 45 minutes, which pushed the match in a whole different direction.

And then came Son. He was supplied with great balls from Kulusevski (who added his name to a scoreboard) and his friend Harry Kane.

The England captain always has his one eye fixed on Son's direction, and the moment he sees the Korean alone, Kane fires perfect passes. That was the case at the Villa Park also, and all of a sudden, the hosts were torn down. Instead of their jaw-dropping victory, the visitors are the ones with all of the reasons to be happy on Saturday night.
