The Spaniard insisted for the Italian to leave

When Luis Enrique arrived in Paris this summer, he was expected to clean up and rebuild the team, but not quite to that extent.

For example, it was assumed that he would revive the career of Neymar, who had previously played the football of his life with him in Barcelona. Instead, Enrique immediately told the club's leaders that they could sell the Brazilian. And an even bigger surprise was when he hit at one of the three longest-serving players – Marco Verratti.

Back then, the French media wrote that after a few training sessions, Enrique told the Italian that he could look for a new club because he didn't like his work and life habits. Veratti still hoped that the coach would change his mind, stayed at the club for a few weeks, and when he didn't get a chance to play even a minute, he realized it was over. The problem was that the transfer period in the strongest leagues had already ended, so he accepted the club's idea to go to Qatar for 45,000,000 euros and help the Saints pump money into the Parc des Princes and 'iron out' the financial books.

The French media revealed the contents of the unpleasant conversation that Luis Enrique had with Verratti upon his arrival at the club. He was more than direct:

"You are the prototype of the player I hate," said the Spaniard to the Italian midfielder, letting him know he was unwelcome.

Enrique was not even interested in the indisputable football qualities of the experienced midfielder, he immediately crossed him out due to his lack of professionalism, lifestyle and influence in the dressing room.

In addition to Verratti, veterans Leo Messi and Sergio Ramos, the aforementioned Neymar, unwanted reserves Renato Sanches, Abdou Diallo and Juan Bernat left the Parc des Princes in the same summer, while Julian Draxler, Giorginio Wijnaldum, Mauro Icardi, Leandro Paredes were also bid farewell after loans in other clubs...
