Aston Villa captain talked about the club's most popular fan
Unai Emery’s Europa League trophy is becoming almost boring. The Aston Villa coach won his fifth trophy in this competition, and his work is just fabulous, especially in Birmingham, but for him, it’s nothing new. He took over Villa in October 2022 from Steven Gerrard with the club 16th in the Premier League and one point above the relegation zone. In less than four years he has taken them into the top four, back into the Champions League and ended their European trophy drought to secure legendary status. But, there are others who haven’t seen Villa won anything before, and now it’s their time to celebrate.
Like any other British club, Aston Villa also has celebrities rooting for them, maybe even the classiest one – Prince William. The future British king is a Villain and finally got to see his beloved club winning a trophy. He paid a visit to the dressing room and talked to the players before the final and was seen at the stands with tears of joy after the win.
“Amazing night!! Huge congratulations to all the players, team, staff and everyone connected to the club! 44 years since the last taste of European silverware! Special shout out to Boubacar Kamara who has been out injured but is such an integral part of our team and helped lay the foundations of this success” William posted on X after the final whistle.

For the 31-years old captain John McGinn, the Prince of Wales is a great fan and the Scotsman even joked that he should pay the bill at the after-party.
“He's a classy guy. He was in the dressing room before the game. He's a massive Villa fan so he was never going to miss it and it's obviously great to have his support. He's just a normal guy - hopefully tonight he can have a couple of drinks with us and get his credit card out at the end of the night!” said Villa captain with a smile. We don’t know who paid at the end, but Prince William surely surprised everyone and showed up at the party.
