Real's presidential candidate didn't mince words when asked about their greatest rival

There are only four days left until the presidential elections in Real Madrid. The biggest club in the world is deciding will Florentino Perez stays as president or Enrique Riquelme (37 years old) will take the helm and make a start to write a new history of the club. As the 7th of June gets closer, so are the stakes in this huge battle. Both presidential candidates are using future coaches and player as ‘bates’ in order to get support and eventually win. For now, it is known that Jose Mourinho will come back as the coach if Perez wins, while Riquelme would like to bring in former Barcelona player Mikel Arteta.

That is why it was interesting to listen to Riquelme’s opinion about the hated rivals Barcelona, where Arteta started as a player in youth team. Riquelme also criticized Perez’s stance on Barcelona.

"Florentino Perez said in several assemblies that Barca needed to be strong, and he sent Anas Laghrari to secure over 300 million euros in financing for Barcelona. There you have the connections, the signings... and he also got paid for it. We'd all like to know this man's true position" he said in an interview for 'The Wild Project'.

Riquelme then proceeded to give his honest opinion on Real’s biggest rival.

“I want to see Barcelona in the Second Division. I'd love it. I wouldn't have any problem with it and I'd be happy. And that's not disrespectful at all...I'd also like Barcelona to disappear. I wouldn't have any problem with that either. Barcelona is part of football history, but I want Real Madrid to win, and only Real Madrid" he said.
