Efforts to reach the Police FC Chief Executive Officer and Chairman for comment were fruitless, and their phones went unanswered.
Francis Baraza has yet to be informed of his sacking as head coach of Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Police FC.
"I'm also just reading and watching the happenings in the media. I've not been informed formally that I'm no longer in charge," Baraza, who is nursing a torn Achilles tendon, told Mozzart Sport.
"I'm still in Nairobi recovering after undergoing surgery before the season began," he added.
Last Thursday, Police, who opened their season with a four-match winless streak, unveiled former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards coach Zdravko Logarusic as their new coach in a change aimed at making the team end its winless run and perform well going forward.
Yet, Baraza revealed that he signed a new one-year contract with the Law Enforcers at the beginning of the 2023–24 FKFPL campaign and was looking forward to fully resuming duty once he was healed.
Prior to his unceremonial dismissal, the former league winner with the now-defunct Sony Sugar FC was given days off to heal and was to resume work on Thursday.
"I turned down three offers to stay here, but I know this is the nature of our job; however, I'm waiting for them to contact me."
Police recorded three draws and a loss in the opening four fixtures of the new season against expectations after splashing out again in the transfer window.
In the four outings, Baraza says he was not fully in charge as he was in pain and could barely walk unaided.
"My assistant, Salim Babu, did a good job over the period. Most of the time, I could only follow training from the stands, so he was in charge."
In his first game in charge, Logarusic produced a clinical 2-0 win over Bidco United to break the duck.
Efforts to reach the Police FC Chief Executive Officer and Chairman for comment were fruitless, and their phones went unanswered.
