Abrasive midfielder has been an integral for KCB this season but injuries threaten further role.

KCB midfielder Michael Mutinda is gutted after suffering yet another injury just when he was returning after recovering from a knee injury he picked while in camp with the national team.

Mutinda was stretchered off in the latter stages of the first half against Kariobangi Sharks in their round of 16 clash at Utalii Grounds after injuring his other knee and was replaced by Samuel Mwangi. KCB went ahead to lose the game on post-match penalties and exit the competition.

This was the first time Mutinda was getting the starting nod since March, something he had looked forward to in a long time.

"I was very excited to get back to the team and start against Kariobangi Sharks. It has been long since I played, then this happens. I feel so bad, and I felt very bitter the moment I got injured and knew I would not continue the game. It is very tough when you get injured just when you are returning from another injury," Mutinda told Mozzart Sport.

The former Thika United midfielder also said that the club is making arrangements so that he goes for an MRI scan to clearly know the situation of the injury.

"I cannot comment so much about the injury but I am thankful that the club is organizing so that I go for an MRI to ascertain the extent of the injury. I am hoping it is not that bad. We shall know after the scan," he added

Mutinda has been a crucial cog in Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno's side this season in midfield, producing a stellar performance that saw him called up to the national team and earn his maiden cap for the national team.

Mutinda has only lost two games this season in which he started, against AFC Leopards and against Nzoia Sugar in identical 2-1 defeats.
