Inter drop two goals advantage in Turin

Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 26.04.26. | 21:04

Nerazzurri had a 2-0 lead but allowed Torino to earn a draw

Last season it was Napoli, but this one, the champion will be Inter Milan and it will be totally deserved. Nerazzurri should have won the title last year as well but failed do to their own mistakes. This year, they kept their destiny firmly in their hands and it’s only a question of ‘when’ and not ‘if’. Tonight, they had a great chance to win against Torino as they took a 2-0 lead with 30 minutes to go, but the hosts came back and the game ended 2-2. That means that Inter can still become champions next week when they face Parma at the sellout Giuseppe Meazza stadium, but now they will need results from other teams.

The first half was totally flat and uninteresting. Inter was the better team but didn’t create much chances, while Torino was totally helpless. The fact that by the 40th minute only two fouls were given tells you all about the intensity of the game. The only opportunity for Torino came in the eight minute when Coco fired high from the heart of the opponent's penalty area but sent the ball over. The only goal of the first half came via the well-known connection Dimarco – Thuram. The full back made a great cross and the French striker was all alone from close range and scored with ease. Sadly, for all fans who watched this game, it was the only goal of the half.

The second half started with a great chance for Inter. Marcus Thuram fired a shot from the heart of the penalty area. Ismajli regained possession, but a rebound favored Federico Dimarco, who fired in with the outside of the ball. Paleari excelled with a superb save. Darmian dived for the ball, but Ebosse denied him with a superb save. But the future Serie A champions finished the job thirty minutes from time. Again, it was a header this time from a corner kick. Dimarco again provided a perfect cross but this time it was Bisseck who scored from a header. But only when the score was 2-0 did Torino woke up. They scored from the first chance when Giovanni Simeone, gave a great pass to Emirhan Ilkhan, who then returned the ball to the Argentinian who scored for 2-1. The home team realized they can actually get something from this game and continued to attack. In one of those attacks, Carlos Augusto handballed in the penalty area and suddenly the game was back to square one – 2:2. Inter tried to take a lead again but failed to create a proper chance and the game finished with a draw.
