Inzaghi's team has five victories out of five, only one goal conceded, and few defensive weaknesses

Inter's strong start to the season doesn't stop: five wins out of five, something that hadn't happened since the 2019/20 season when Antonio Conte managed to string six wins before seeing his run ended by Juventus. Now, the standings are looking brilliant for the Nerazzurri. They are three points ahead of Milan and five ahead of Juventus, waiting to see if Napoli will catch up with Massimiliano Allegri's side.

It's too early to talk about a runaway, but the 1-0 win at Empoli on Sunday afternoon sent the signal that Inter are going to be a much better team than last season, when they lost 12 times in Serie A, keeping them away from the title fight.

However, head coach Simone Inzaghi doesn't want his team to get carried away - especially because none of the previous three coaches who started a season with five wins ended that year with a championship.

"We shouldn't send messages or create tables. Even though we've started well, things can change quickly. The important thing is to always maintain high concentration."

These are words of caution because the Piacenza-born coach doesn't want anyone surrounding the club to get too excited, nor does he want everyone to consider his team as the undisputed favourite for the title. However, objectively speaking, this Inter is completely different from the one a year ago.

The first five victories of the Nerazzurri have been different from each other, and in the first four matches, the team had always managed to break the deadlock in the first half. At Stadio Comunale Carlo Castellani, they went into halftime without scoring, despite creating many chances and shooting 13 shots. At that point, the group's psychological strength came into play, returning to the pitch with the determination to quickly tilt the result in their favour.

They did it without panicking or getting anxious, as often happened last season. Gianluca Dimarco's delightful goal made the path easier, but it was the attitude and maturity of the team that really made the difference.

Who can stop and who will stop this Inter? Rival fans hope that Inzaghi's men will make their first misstep on Wednesday at San Siro against Sassuolo, a team that has beaten Juventus, or on Saturday night at Salernitana. Then, the Champions League will return with a home match against Benfica. The game at Real Sociedad last week proved a tough one. Inter were getting battered, but their calmness allowed them to score a late goal and snatch a point. Inzaghi must continue to use his vast squad, which he emphasized is "a great solution for us, not a problem." Rotating will be essential if the Nerazzurri want to keep the players fresh.

In Europe at the moment, only Manchester City has a longer streak (six consecutive victories), even though Pep Guardiola's team has conceded three goals in 6 matches. At the same time, Inter has achieved four clean sheets in 5 games. It's only September, but in the league, the atmosphere around captain Lautaro Martinez and his teammates is very different from a year ago when they had 6 points less and many more question marks.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta is delighted to see Inzaghi's strong influence on the squad.

"Today, Inter is his team. Simone is a true leader, and the players follow his directions."
