Cristian Chivu’s team was better than Genoa away, winning 2–1

Inter Milan capitalized on AC Milan’s and Napoli’s slip-ups in a single day, entering their clash with Genoa knowing that a victory would put them top of the table. Overall, the match lacked clear-cut chances despite the three goals scored. Most of the play revolved around the penalty areas, and aside from Genoa’s goal in the second half, opportunities were scarce. In the end, goals from Lautaro Martinez and Bisseck secured a 2–1 win for the visitors.

The first half between Genoa and Inter Milan started with an early moment of note in the 2nd minute when Lautaro Martinez found himself on the right side and fired toward goal, though his ambitious shot went well over the bar.

Inter took the lead just four minutes later, shocking the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Bisseck scored a stunning goal from an incredible position to make it 1–0 in favor of the visitors.

Inter continued to press, with a well-worked move in the 13th minute combining Lautaro Martinez, Bisseck, and Luis Henrique. Carlos Augusto met the ball inside the box with a header, but it went just wide of the target.

Lautaro had another chance in the 22nd minute from the edge of the box, but the Genoa goalkeeper was alert and saved his effort. Two minutes later, Carlos Augusto attempted a long-range strike from over 25 meters, but his ambitious effort sailed over the goal.

Inter threatened briefly in the 32nd minute when Esposito managed a good shot, only for Leali to make a solid save.

Inter doubled their advantage in the 38th minute with a phenomenal goal from Lautaro Martinez. Picking up the ball inside the box with minimal space, he struck with his left foot into the near corner, giving Genoa’s goalkeeper no chance and putting Inter 2–0 ahead.

The second half began in a fairly dull fashion, much like the first, with few clear chances and plenty of circulation around the goal. It wasn’t until the 20th minute that the first shot arrived, as Lautaro Martinez received the ball and fired from around 20 meters, but his effort lacked power and accuracy, allowing Leali to comfortably collect it.

Genoa pulled one back in the 68th minute. Vitinha scored seemingly out of nothing after Genoa, from one of their numerous clearances, managed to catch Inter’s defense off guard. Ekuban played a crucial role, creating space for Vitinha, who cleverly rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the net.
