The Azzurri forward line will take some stopping in this tournament
Many Italian fans feared the potentially tricky opening Euro 2020 fixture against Turkey. It's not always easy to play your best football in the first game of a tournament, but the Italians made it a perfect start with a 3-0 win in which their front three put the Turks to the sword.
Domenico Berardi, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne played their part in the impressive win as Italy scored three goals in a Euro match for the first time - in what was the nation's 39th match in the European Championship history.
Berardi's strong cross was turned in by Juventus defender Merih Demirel for an own goal, Immobile tucked in a rebound to double the lead, and Insigne curled in the best goal of the night to complete the empathic victory.

Despite his excellent performances over the past five or six years, he was always questioned because he isn't playing for one of Italy's biggest clubs. But the 26-year-old showed maturity and ability that would certainly keep him in Roberto Mancini's starting eleven.
The coach and former player Mancini was happy after his team secured the win in front of 16,000 fans in the Stadio Olimpico.
"We played well. With it being the first match, it wasn't easy, and we were up against a good team. The crowd helped us, and it was crucial for us to move the ball quickly."
Roberto Mancini took over Italy after they had failed to qualify for the World Cup, and slipped to their lowest point in the FIFA rankings since the rankings were created in 1992.

On the opposite flank, the diminutive number 10 Lorenzo Insigne carried on his strong goalscoring campaign with Napoli to find the net for the national team as well. Even though he's had a few poor attempts earlier in the match, his right-footed curler from the edge of the area was the pick of the bunch.
"We made a slow start, but we managed to recover and score three goals in the second half. Mancini told us to remain calm and focused on the game – that's what we did, and, finally, we achieved our goal. It was great to play in front of our fans."

And what would a front three be without a tried and tested poacher spearheading the attack? The Lazio hitman Immobile's done what he does best - he moved ever so well to find himself in the right place at precisely the right moment and find the net to effectively kill the game off. But Ciro is so much more than just a goalscorer. He works hard for the team, putting pressure on the opposing defenders with his tireless running and pressing. Once again, he proved an invaluable asset to the team.
"We showed patience in the first half. Turkey are a strong side. We tried to tire them out, moving the ball left and right and trying to spread them. Unfortunately, we struggled to break their wall. After the goal, they had to open up some space, so that's when our quality emerged. I want to thank my mother for giving me the sense of how to be in the right place at the right time."
Three goals, three points and three in-form forwards - it's a dream start for Gli Azzurri. On Friday's evidence - they could go a long way!
