Harambee Stars and Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Bandari FC goalkeeper trainer Jerim Onyango has been invited to participate in the first-ever CAF Goalkeeper Elite Instructors Course in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mozzart Sport understands that the CAF Goalkeeper Elite Instructors Course in Johannesburg which will run from Saturday, December 2 to Saturday, December 9, 2023, is a new program introduced by the continental football governing body as part of its deliberate efforts to develop football in general.

According to CAF Development Director, Raul Chipenda, CAF’s objective with this course, is to create a panel of experts specialized in Goalkeeping, who can train and develop new Goalkeeping Instructors in the different Member Associations.

For this reason, the CAF Coaching Department in Cairo, Egypt, and the Football Kenya Federation in its wisdom picked Onyango, an icon in Kenyan goalkeeping in recent years Onyango, who got his first call-up for the country in 2011 but went to make his international debut on 9th July 2013 against Swaziland in Harambee Stars 2-0 and captained Gor Mahia to their first Kenya Premier League title in 18 years thanks to his extraordinary goalkeeping prowess.

Onyango led the record FKF Premier League champions to three titles before retiring from active football to venture into coaching in 2016.

The Dockers custodians’ coach will therefore not be on the bench when Bandari takes on Muhoroni Youth on Sunday at Mbaraki Sports Complex in round 13 of the FKF Premier League.
