The English midfielder is already training with David Moyes' squad, so why not
West Ham United is reportedly considering offering Jesse Lingard a short-term contract during the international break.
While Lingard has been impressing at the club's training ground, manager David Moyes wants to ensure the player's commitment before finalizing the deal. A contract until the end of the season with another year an option seems to be the most likely scenario. West Ham is looking to bolster their attacking options after his proposed transfer to MLS's DC United fell through.
Moyes is eager to add an extra attacking player to his squad. The club's attempts to sign Corinthians' Yuri Alberto and PSG's Hugo Ekitike late in the transfer window were unsuccessful. As a result, West Ham are exploring other options to strengthen their attacking options.
The 30-year-old Lingard is officially without a club. The former Enlgand international left Nottingham Forest when his one-year contract expired at the end of the previous season. He made 20 appearances for Nottingham Forest, scoring two goals. After his release, he has been training with the Irons. In the 2020/21 season, Lingard enjoyed a successful loan spell with West Ham, scoring nine goals in 16 games. His decision to sign with Nottingham Forest instead of West Ham a year ago took many Hammers' fans by surprise as he was seen as a natural fit following his on-loan heroics.
We will be without Benrahma, Kudus and Cornet in January due to the AFCON.

This time around, Moyes might get his man at a low-risk, short-term deal, bolstering the Scotsman's options in attack while giving employment to the former Manchester United starlet.
