If there is anyone who has now understood the power of Kenyans on the social media sphere, it is Simba FC defender Joash ‘Berlin Wall’ Onyango.
After his outstanding displays at the back that saw Wekundu wa Msimbazi concede only one goal in four games played both locally and internationally, the former Gor Mahia defender received a cash reward of one million Tanzanian shillings and a personalized trophy after being named the club’s March player of the month.

Hongera Joash ???? #NguvuMoja
Joash did not have it easy however, the Harambee Stars international was trailing Aishi Manula before Kenyans came together online. Days later Joash would go on to take the lead on the poll before eventually winning the monthly award. The Simba FC defender has now gone on to acknowledge the massive support he received from his home fans.
“I must thank Kenyans and everyone who voted for me. It shows their belief in me,” the player is quoted on the official website of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
Dear Kenyans, how about we 'invade' @simbasctazania website and vote for Joash Onyango as their March player of the month?

The defender who saw off competition from goalkeeper Aisha Manula and midfielder Luis Miquissone also expressed what the award meant to him especially him being a defender.
“It’s not always easy for a defender to be nominated for such awards. This is a boost to my morale. I now have a reason to work even harder for club and country,” he stated.
Simba side currently lie in second place in the Tanzanian Premier League on 46 points. They trail leaders Yanga FC by four points having played three games less. Joash and his Simba side are in action today in the CAF Champions League where they take on Al Ahly at 2200EAT.
