Juventus wins, Inter stumble in Spezia
Reading Time: 2min | Wed. 21.04.21. | 23:47
The Serie A leaders only managed a 1-1 draw in Spezia, while second placed Milan lost in Sassuolo
After a debacle with the Super League, Agnelli’s Juventus continued their battle for the Champions League spot with a win against the relegation bound Parma 3-1. The match itself was in the shadow of the events which started on Sunday and ended on Tuesday, with Juve’s Andrea Agnelli in the spotlight, as one of the masterminds of the Super League.
And it started badly for Juve, as Parma took the lead after a free kick.
The hosts should have scored before Parma. Cristiano Ronaldo came back from injury and should have scored after seven minutes, but the Parma goalie Simone Colombi prevented the Portuguese. After the surprise goal, Juventus started attacking immideately and soon chances started to come one after another: Sandro, Dybala, Bonucci. But it was the Brazilian Sandro who scored two goals, one before and one after halftime and turned the game over. De Ligt just confirmed Juve’s domination in this match and Pirlo didn’t have to worry if the guests will come back to equalize.
Unlike Juve, league leaders Inter slipped at Spezia, who managed to get a draw against future to be champions. Conte’s men had their 11 match winning streak snapped by a draw against Napoli last week, and they failed to win for the second game in a row. Although transfer window is far away, the goalkeeper will be a high priority on Conte’s list in June. After the veteran Handanovic scored an own goal against Napoli, Inter’s keeper made a mistake in this match too, allowing Spezia to score first. Conte’s men had plenty of chances throughout the match, but it was one of those nights when it was not meant to be. Even Lukaku missed a number of opportunities, and only Ivan Perisic managed to score for the final result: 1-1.
The temperament Conte surely won’t be happy with the result, but his anger will be eased by the Milan defeat against Sassuolo, so the difference between the rivals is still 9 points.
