Danson Kago is making an extra coin from his sports equipment business despite the league being put on hold.
Mathare United winger Danson Kago has opted to maximize his free time to focus on his sports equipment business after all sporting activities were suspended.
The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) was suspended after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a halt in all sporting activities to curb the spike in Covid-19 cases in the country.
Kago is looking to eke a living from his sports equipment business with players having more spare time as team training have been banned leaving them to rely on individual training.
“I deal with sports products for fitness, injury recovery products in terms of rehabilitation and gym apparel, I'm trying to make ends meet outside football which is my profession.”
“Football is the main profession to footballers so I'd like sports to return, it is up to the Federation, the players and stakeholders to pressure the government to lift the ban on sports,” said Kago.

The 2016 Premier League champion joined Mathare United at the start of the season from Posta Rangers but has endured a torrid start to the season.
The Slum Boys are currently in the relegation spot after garnering a paltry nine points from 14 games this season and are on a four-game losing streak.
Kago is however confident that when the league is handed a green light to resume, Mathare will turn their fortunes around and wriggle away from the relegation places.
“Our team is improving, it's only that we started late and on a bad footing but as the league progressed anyone who is keen must have noted an improvement between the first match and the most recent one.”
“It was just our time for hard luck and I'm confident that when the league resumes things will be very different,” added Kago.
Salim Ali’s side Achilles heel has been their defence that has conceded 22 goals which is the second-worst in the league.
