
KCB name new captain

Andika will step in as Mutinda is currently sidelined.
KCB have named experienced goalkeeper Gabriel Andika as their new captain ahead of this season’s Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).
Andika replaces Michael Mutinda who is out with a long-term injury. Midfielder Brian Ochieng and Maurice Ojwang will deputize him.
The bankers on Friday unveiled their five new signings ahead of the new season which kicked off on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Among the new signings are striker Derrick Otanga who rejoined the side from Police FC, and goalkeeper wand who is joining the team from Mathare United.
Others are winger Stephen Etyang previously plying his trade at Ulinzi Stars, defender Bernard Odhiambo from Bandari, and defender Herit Mungai who joins from Nairobi City Stars.
KCB assistant coach Elvis Ayanyi told the club's social media page that the players are highly motivated ahead of the new season.
“The boys are highly motivated ahead of the new season and we cannot wait to begin. We have been preparing for it with the new boys coming in. Otanga who is an old KCB boy knows the team well and he has been gelling well with the squad.”
The bankers will kick-start their new campaign on September 1st against AFC Leopards at the Kasarani Stadium after the postponement of the Kakamega Homeboyz clash scheduled for this weekend.
Homeboyz traveled to Libya for a Confederations Cup return match. The bankers will be hoping to improve on their fifth-place finish last season.
The team made several changes to the technical bench after bringing on board Benard Mwalala as head coach to replace Zedekiah Otieno whose contract was not renewed.
