The two Kenyans picked up emphatic victories in the competition.

Following impressive performances in the UEFA Europa Conference League, Joseph Okumu and Linton Maina were included in the Sofascore’s Team of the Week.

The former Chemelil Sugar defender was making a return to the Gent squad after being handed his marching orders in the 2-0 defeat to Zulte Waregem in the Belgian First Division.

Okumu was eligible to play in the Conference League with the red card only affecting league matches and was handed a reprieve as his four-match ban was reduced to just a single game.

The 25-year-old was immense for Gent at the back on his return as he helped the side to a clean sheet in the 3-0 thumping of Irish side Shamrock Rovers.

The victory meant that Gent ascended to the summit of Group F with four points and lead the standings by virtue of a better goal difference to Djurgården which is the parent club of Frank Odhiambo.

Okumu was handed a rating of 7.8 as he helped Gent keep Shamrock Rovers at bay but will miss this weekend’s encounter against Standard Liege as he will serve his final match suspension.

Linton Maina was the other Kenyan included in the Team of the Week after providing two assists in FC Koln’s 4-2 win over Slovacko.

The former Hannover 96 winger whipped in his first assist three minutes before the halftime break as he found Florian Dietz with a well-threaded through ball.

The 23-year-old capped off his wonderful performance with another assist this time finding Dejan Ljubicic who tapped the ball into the net for the 4-2 win.
