Anyembe is eligible to feature for Harambee Stars having not featured for Denmark.

Kenyan defender Daniel Anyembe clocked 90 minutes for Esbjerg in the 2-0 loss to Silkeborg in the Danish 1st Division.

The loss dims Esbjergs hopes of promotion to the Danish Super League as they are now eight points off promotion places on the log.

Following a drab first half, the game sparked to life in the 69th minute when Esbjerg defender Rodolph Austin conceded a penalty and was handed his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Magnus Mattsson held his nerve to convert the spot-kick and hand Silkeborg the lead in the tense encounter between third-placed Esbjerg and the table toppers.

Before Esbjerg could settle after going a goal behind Nicklas Helenius doubled Silkeborg’s lead to assure them of three points as they inch closer to sealing promotion.

Anyembe who is a right-back is eligible to play for Kenya as he is yet to represent Denmark’s senior side.

The 22-year-old is yet to receive a Harambee Stars call up and could solve the problematic right-back position that has previously been filled by central defenders.

He was promoted to the first-team squad for the 2017–18 season in the Danish 1st Division. Anyembe signed another contract extension in August 2018, keeping him a part of the club until 2022.
