Manager of the Belgrade club is not counting on the young midfielder... At least until the summer
Richard Odada arrived at Red Star Belgrade as a teenager. He played for the youth team, then in the second tier side club Graficar, where he impressed and was consequently promoted to the Red Star senior team.
He went with the A-team to Cyprus and Turkey for the pre-season tour and he fought his place in the first team during the spring part of the season. Unfortunately, when it was needed the most - young Kenyan failed to deliver.
Ex-Inter midfielder and current manager Dejan Stankovic gave Odada a chance in two matches. To be frank, there was not much time for the Kenyan to show what he can do - he played 12 minutes in one and 20 minutes in the other match, but that did not seem convincing enough. He made major mistakes such as inaccurate passes that opened counter-attacks for the rival and it is clear that he will have to work a lot more to reach the level to compete for more minutes at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.
The fact that Richard is young is more than favourable and he should be in the plans for the future of the Red-and-Whites of Belgrade. The process of obtaining Serbian citizenship began a few months ago, and according to Mozzart Sport, it could soon be completed.
Odada is currently in Kenya, where he is finishing up on the necessary paperwork to obtain a Serbian passport. The club allowed him to travel to his homeland, which means that Stankovic will not be counting on him until the end of the season, ie for the remaining four games of the current Serbian Super League campaign.
We will see what will happen when he returns and whether he will stay with Red Star or a loan will follow. It is expected that he will go through the pre-season preparations with the first squad of the Serbian champion, after which manager Stankovic will make a decision.
