Shabana quest to scale to the summit of the NSL thwarted by Kibera

Ten-man Kibera Black Stars spoilt Shabana's bid to ascend to summit of the National Super League after humbling them 2-1 in a National Super League match played at the Ligi Ndogo Ground in Nairobi on Sunday afternoon.

The former giants were seeking to open a two point gap at the top of the log but the hosts who finished with ten men after Ronald Okello was sent off made good use of home advantage to scoop maximum points.

The defeat, their seventh in the season, was left coach Robert Ojienda with bitter taste in mouth as he was hoping to stay firmly on the top before their closest challengers play on Monday.

The former Migori Youth tactician said his team paid heavily for their lapses in concentration and wastefulness in front of the goal.

"We did not play well especially in the first half. We were punished for the defensive mistakes we made although I must commend my players for the improved second half display. When our opponents were reduced to ten men, it became difficult to breach their rear as they sat deep," he said.

Black Stars who have moved to fourth with 39th points after the win got their goals through Michael Omulama and Daniel Odhiambo.

Shabana who will take on Mt. Kenya United in their next match in Nairobi grabbed their consolation through Nehemiah Onchiri.

Elsewhere, Murang'a Seal enhanced their chances of a respectable finish after putting off Nairobi Stima 1-0 at the St.Sebastian Park in Muranga.

Dennis Munyovi's sole strike was enough to grant Seal their eighth win of the season which catapulted them three places high and now sit eleventh with thirty points.
