Asieche made his first start against Kariobangi Sharks.
Wazito FC head coach Francis Kimanzi has expressed his satisfaction with Eli Asieche’s performance in the 2-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks on Wednesday afternoon at the Utalii Grounds.
Asieche was named in the starting team for the first time since he joined the club in February from Sofapaka. He put in a good performance and twice came close to scoring before he was taken off in the 70th minute for Dennis Ng’ang’a who was making his first appearance for Wazito since March.
Kevin Kimani opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a long-range header that beat Brandon Obiero on Sharks goal. Rooney Onyango then sealed the game with a towering-powerful header from a Kevin Kimani delivery from a free kick. The win was Wazito’s first-ever over Sharks in the top tier. It also ended Wazito’s five-match winless run in the league.

Speaking after the match, Kimanzi expressed his satisfaction with Asieche’s performance in his first start for the club. He praised him saying he gave 100%.
“I am very satisfied and that is why I even gave him some time to rest because it is his first game. He is a quality player - very clever and when he understands what the team wants, he gives 100%. He was a key part of the success in terms of influencing the play,” he said.
The midfielder took Whyvonne Isuza’s place in the middle of the park and he did well connecting with Amos Asembeka and Fidel Origa in midfield. He will be hoping to get more minutes under his belt when Wazito takes on Gor Mahia on Wednesday in Nairobi.
Kimanzi's side was initially set to play Ulinzi Stars on Sunday but the game has since been postponed indefintely as confirmed by Wazito in a statement.
“UPDATE: Our league match against Ulinzi Stars that was scheduled for Sunday in Narok has been postponed to a later date,” the club posted on Friday morning.
