Their players were head and shoulders above the rest in terms of physique

After raising eyebrows with the their sheer physique, Koyonzo Secondary School head coach Oscar Okabon has moved to quell the talks of his team fielding over age players in the tournament as he added that the same players will feature for the team next year.

Koyonzo booked a slot in the national school games after clinching the Western Region title by beating Butula Boys High School and repeated the same feat in the national by whitewashing the same opponent 33-0.

Okabon explained that the players have undergone rigorous conditioning right from an early age as he revealed that majority of his team are in form two meaning that they will represent the team in the 2023 edition.

"A lot has been about our team but we have prepared our team well and preparations started right from the age group team, these are players who have been playing rugby from lower primary and right now they good players.

We have worked on their physique and that is why some of them are big, this team has two form fours, majority of the team are form twos and we even have a form one so people should expect to see them this year," said Okabon.

Koyonzo clinched the national 7s title for the first time ever in their history, claiming the title from Upper Hill School who lost in the quarter finals against Butula.

Okabon was ecstatic after guiding the club to their maiden national school games title as he vowed to add another accolade in their trophy cabinet by winning the East Africa Games title.

"The match was good, we really want to thank the boys, we thank God because of the win. This is the best feeling that I've had because we really prepared for this moment since 2020. We are going to repeat the same thing we did and win the East Africa title, we want to dominate and show the world that we are the best," added Okabon.
