Kudus' first goal for Spurs enough for the win in Leeds

The Ghana winger is in great form since moving from West Ham
Thomas Frank is continuing to break various winning (and losing) streaks. Since he took over at Tottenham, the Dane expert finally got this team going and his players are finally fulfilling their big wage expectations. Against Leeds against pouring rain, Frank continued to build the best away team in England (three wins so far) while he broke the bad streak Spurs had in recent years. Tottenham have lost their last seven matches immediately before an international break - a run that stretches back to October 7, 2023, when they won 1-0 at Luton.

But it was broken today with a 2-1 win, in which Mohammed Kudus was the man of the match, with an assist and a winning goal. The Ghana midfielder continued his impressive form since moving from one part of London to another this June. On the other side, he was ‘helped’ by Leeds defender Pascal Struijk, who tried to defend, but managed to deflect the ball enough to trick his own keeper Darlow both times. Former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also the one to be blamed as he missed two excellent opportunities which could have changed the result completely, but instead, Leeds have now lost their first home league game since September 2024 (23 games in a row).

The first half was made of dreams for any football fans. Two goals, two more excellent chances and two bars which prevented two more goals. And it all happened basically in the space of 30 minute. Before that, former Tottenham defender should have scored after a great cross from Longstaff but he could only hit the woodwork from very, very close range. And then, after 15 minutes of play it all started. Kudus found Tel on the counter in the 23nd minute and his shot has a small deflection off the Leeds defender but enough to trick Darlow: 1-0 for the guests. Just two minutes later Okafor stole the ball and quickly found Calvert-Lewin, but the former Everton striker took a shot way above the bar. A minute later Kudus was in a similar situation but also missed. And then the home team scored an equalizer. Spurs failed to clear Bogle's cross - Aaronson fired a half-volley in for the rebound and Vicario could only parry it into path of Okafor who scored with ease for 1-1. And then it was Spurs’ time to hit the post, this time it was Tel in the fourth minute of injury time.

Calvert-Lewin embarrassed himself once again, this time at the beginning fo the second half when he missed a one-on-one situation with Vicario. A disaster for Leeds defender Struijk continuted in the 57th minute when he deflected the ball again, this time after Kudus’ shot and the ball tricked Darlow again – 2:1 for Tottenham. Leeds tried to equalize and the Spurs did gave them posession, but the home team wasn’t very creative and nothing happened until the 93rd minute, when Vicario saved Piroe’s shot.
