The party around bringing Jamie Vardy to the Italian club started even before the contract was signed, and now it’s all official
Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy has now officially signed for Cremonese, and the party in Italy can begin. The famous striker is far from being finished or written off. He signed a one-year deal and will keep firing shots at goal. And we’ll all enjoy it.
Vardy’s contract with Leicester expired after their relegation to the Championship, leaving him free to choose a new club. He spent as many as 13 years at King Power Stadium, playing his best football under Claudio Ranieri, and Cremonese managed to convince him that Italian coaches and Italian football in general are something completely different from what he had experienced on the island.

Vardy began his career in the lower leagues of England before joining Leicester, where, against all odds, he went on to win the Premier League in the 2015/16 season, scoring 24 goals and providing 7 assists in 36 matches. That performance earned him the titles of Footballer of the Year and Player of the Season, and he was also entered into the Guinness Book of Records for scoring in the most consecutive matches in the English top flight (11).
In total, he played 500 games for Leicester, scoring 200 goals and registering 71 assists, along with an impressive trophy collection that includes every major domestic honor: the Premier League, FA Cup, Golden Boot, Community Shield, as well as finishing eighth in the 2016 Ballon d’Or voting. In the Premier League alone, he scored 145 goals and recorded 50 assists, and at 33 became the oldest player in history to win the Golden Boot, with 23 goals.
On the international stage, the forward born in 1987 made his England debut at 28, scoring seven goals in 26 appearances, including appearances at Euro 2016, the 2018 World Cup, and qualifiers for both tournaments.

“Now Vardy, who turned passion and persistence into the foundations of his football career, is set for a new adventure in Cremona, the world’s capital of violin-making, a city that nurtures music and high art as its trademark. The new striker of the Grigiorossi will join coach Nicola’s squad to help Cremonese achieve their goal in Serie A,” the club announced.
