Lacklustre PSG keep hold of Brest to stay on top of Ligue 1

No one saw this coming. Ok, yes, Paris Saint-Germain have triumphed in a clash against Brest, but it was anything but an easy win. Moreover, the Saints had to worry until the very last moments of the game at Parc des Princes against Ligue 1 strugglers.

It didn't seem like a bumpy road for the favourites after Neymar found the back of the net following Lionel Messi's remarkable assist early in the first half. However, the visitors didn't hold back and demonstrated some high levels of courage and patience as they tried to fight back.

The opportunity arose with 20 minutes left on the clock when Kimpembe fouled the opposing forward in the PSG box, resulting in a penalty.

Islam Slimani stepped up, but his attempt was horrible, and Donnarumma denied it easily.

Albeit that kick in the gut, Brest kept pushing forward and trying to bring the game into a stalemate. Slimani was once again close to scoring after the ball deflected from him, but Donnarumma's second save proved to be crucial.

Galtier's boys got all three points despite a woeful performance they would like to erase from their memory as soon as possible.
