Jamie Vardy had an offer from Khaleej FC, but he opted to stay

According to reports, Leicester's veteran goalscorer Jamie Vardy passed up on a chance to move to Saudi Professional League club Khaleej FC.

The 36-year-old is still eager to get Leicester City promoted straight back to the Premier League. After placing 18th the previous season, the Foxes' nine-year run in the first division came to an end.

Vardy "immediately" rejected the idea of speaking with Khaleej. It is believed that his family would not be happy moving to Saudi Arabia and changing their lifestyle completely.

City have already sanctioned the transfer of James Maddison to Tottenham, while Youri Tielemans joined Aston Villa upon the expiration of his contract. Vardy, meanwhile, has one year left on his contract and looks almost certain to stay.

The 36-year-old striker who scored just three league goals last season, but his loyalty is likely to make waves among Leicester fans. New head coach Enzo Maresca will need Vardy's experience and influence as assets in the race for promotion.

"He'll be staying with us, yes. That's what we're currently doing, looking at the squad and planning for next season."

Vardy is yet to hold talks with Maresca, but staying at King Power Stadium seems like the best option for all parties involved. The 2016 Premier League winner, who has netted 136 top-flight goals for the Foxes, has been with the club for 11 years.
