After scoring the winner last week, the Pole did it again against Osasuna
When Barcelona used the freud between Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski in 2022 and brought in the Polish striker for 50 million euros, they knew they were getting a match-winner, a player who would not crack under pressure but give Barca’s young players some doze of stability and experience. And that happened in the last two games of the new La Liga, including this one. Lewandowski didn’t score in the first two games but then stepped up and gave his team two winners in the last two matches. Last week when Villarreal turned the game over and took the lead, it was Ferran Torres who equalized before the Pole scored the match winner. And tonight Lewandowski did it again with a late penalty kick in a 2-1 win over Osasuna, keeping his team just two points away from arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are currently perfect with four wins.

The home side waited for Barcelona in good form, with two wins from their first three La Liga games and hoped to continue their good form. They were 25 minutes away from that goal when Alejandro Catena committed a penalty, got the red card and allowed Lewandowski to secure all three points. Barcelona started the match well, but soon, the home team had some great chances through Ibanez and Oroz, but Ter Stegen saved his team in both cases. And then Jules Kounde used a wonderful corner delivery from Ilkay Gundogan at the end of the first half and gave the visitors the lead. Barca should have doubled the lead in the 48th minute, but Lewandowski missed it. The punishment came in the 76th minute through Avila, but Catena denied his teammate with a foul and a penalty.
