Lindelof gives Manchester another scrappy win against relegation strugglers Luton

Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 11.11.23. | 19:59

United are going to the international break with a two wins in a row streak

Manchester United problems are many and they are there in the open for everybody to see. But in every trouble there is at least one good things, and so is in this Old Trafford mess – the Premier League schedule. After being defeated by Manchester City at home, the Red Devils have been given the lightest possible schedule – games against Fulham, Luton and Everton. These three teams are currently in the 15th, 16th and 17th place in the Premier League and are relegation strugglers. Luckily, Erik ten Hag and his players managed to win two of those games, Fulham 1-0 last week and Luton today with the same result, getting the pressure off their backs at least until the international break ends.

The win was deserved as Luton Town came only to defend and possibly get a draw against wounded Red Devils, but the display was worrying, as it was against Fulham. The only goal scorer was Victor Lidelof, the player who got the not (again) ahead of Raphael Varane and partnered Harry Maguire in defense. The Swede cleverly used his opportunity in the 59th minute when McTominay's attempt was blocked, and the ball bounced off to Lindelof, who made no mistake. The low self-confidence after a couple of losses made home team players very nervous and the tensions at Old Trafford were high since Luton was very good on defense. United's wastefulness has been a problem ever since Erik ten Hag arrived and it showed again today, but this time, they scored at least one goal and it was enough for another three points.

In a nervy game, United created chances as Kaminski produced a stunning save to deny Hojlund in the 10th minute, and Garnacho reacted badly minutes later instead of scoring. Luton's only good chance was denied by Onana, when Morris produced a great header after a corner in the 33rd minute. Hojlund missed antoher chance in the second half, as the Dane cannot score in the Premier League yet, while the found the net five times in the Champions League already. Luckily for him and the whole team, Lindelof was there to save the day.
