Liverpool eager to snatch back the spot at the summit - perfect opponent ariving

Reading Time: 3min | Thu. 04.04.24. | 13:22

The Reds need all three points at Anfield tonight and there is no better rival than the visiting Blades for such an endevour

Arsenal and Manchester City got their victories on Wednesday, today it's Liverpool's turn. Jurgen Klopp's team will not have a difficult task at Anfield as the bottom dwellers Sheffield United arrive tonight (9.30 PM EAT). The victory is imperative for the host to return to the summit of the Premier League.

The German expert is counting the last weeks on the bench of the Beatles' city giants, and the title would be a farewell in style. Klopp is not bothered by the talk that his team is now the favorite for the crown.

"I am pretty sure when we lost at Arsenal (on February 4) we were not favorites after that - maybe rightly so - but I don't know and I don't care. The most important thing in the end of the season is to ignore things from the outside, because it always goes up and down. We have to be professional, to play the best football", said Klopp.

The German expert pointed out that he is not interested in the match with Manchester United on Sunday, that now the focus is on Sheffield.

"You can't get rivals without respecting him. We will play with available players. Curtis Jones is back, but he can't play 90 minutes. "Sheffield United deserve our respect and they will get it," said Klopp.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Stefan Bajcetic, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcanatra are still out. Jota and Alexander-Arnold are expected to return to the team soon.

"They are training together, and we believe that from next week they will be able to join the team, in group training."

The soon return of Robertson surely works great for Klopp's plans. Stefan Bajčetić is training with the young team this week and could return to the field again at the end of the season.

The Blades from Bramall Lane have stepped with one foot in the Championship, they have 10 points less than Nottingham, the first team above the relegation zone. Sheffield have two draws but are far from a survival scenario. They conceded the most goals in the league, scored the fewest goals, so it will be difficult for last year's member of the Championship to remain in the elite.
