His agent was as straightforward as it gets...

Jurgen Klopp will not become the new manager of the German national team, the Liverpool boss' agent has confirmed.

The Reds' gaffer has emerged as one of the possible candidates to replace Hansi Flick at the helm of Die Mannschaft after the decision was made to sack the former Bayern Munich coach of his duties following a recent shocking 4-1 friendly defeat by Japan.

On the other hand, Klopp was linked with this post on several occasions over the years. The speculation intensified in recent days that this could be the time the German tactician may choose to swap club football for the country and take charge of Germany ahead of next year's EURO 2024.

However, downplaying this possibility, Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke told Sportschau: "Jurgen has a long-term contract with LFC and is not available for the national coaching position."

Klopp signed a new long-term contract at Anfield last year, keeping him on Merseyside until 2026.
