Louis Saha would like to see Welbeck in United

Former Manchester striker has an interesting theory
Manchester United spent over 250 million euros on rebuilding the squad during the June transfer window, and a good portion of that money went toward revamping the attack. So far, Bryan Mbeumo has proven to be the best reinforcement up front. Perhaps the only one who truly deserves the label “reinforcement.” Because, combined, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško have scored just three goals. The Brazilian has one, the Slovenian two. They have struggled with finishing — and they’re also struggling with injuries. Both are currently out of training. The striker from Slovenia has been sidelined for three weeks, and when he returns, he’ll need time to regain rhythm. He will get that under Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese coach counts on him, trusts him, and Louis Saha also believes he is a good solution for Manchester United’s attack. He just needs help. How? The former Red Devils forward suggests a rather bizarre solution — the return of Danny Welbeck?! The first part of the explanation is clear: Benjamin Šeško needs stronger competition — another classic striker to compete with for a starting spot. And a different profile of player.
“United lack depth; Šeško is isolated and has no competition. When I joined the club, there were Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjær. And that wasn’t all — we also had Alan Smith and Carlos Tevez. So, we had depth and strikers of different profiles. We all learned from each other” said Louis Saha.
It would be helpful for him to have someone experienced next to him — someone who could be a mentor, someone he could learn from, but also someone who would be real competition. But is Danny Welbeck really that? His numbers this season are good — seven goals in 12 Premier League matches — and yet…
“I would love for United to bring in Danny Welbeck. He played at Old Trafford many years ago and is a homegrown player. He is talented and experienced, but also extremely efficient. If he arrives in January, he could have a big impact on the team — and, consequently, on the results” emphasized Saha. He offers a very unusual solution — a striker who has struggled with injuries for years and never truly made it at the highest level. But at least it’s interesting, because it provides something no one else would even consider. Still, it’s unlikely anyone at Old Trafford will listen to him.
