Veteran defender David Luiz can't wait to leave Arsenal

He's had enough! Arsenal defender David Luiz, whose contract is set to expire next month, has informed the club that he no longer wants to be a Gunner and that they shouldn't bother coming up with a contract offer. After two years in north London, he will be gone.

The 34-year-old former Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain centre-back arrived to Arsenal two years ago from Chelsea. The experienced defender, who played for the Blues in two separate spells, cost the Gunners around $10 million and proved to be a decent recruit. He has since played 73 times for the Gunners, scoring four times. His ability and knowledge were highly rated by manager Mikel Arteta, but the big-haired stopper is now set to leave.

The former Brazil international has featured in 30 games for Arsenal this season, scoring twice. Arteta named Luiz in the starting line-up 17 times in the Premier League and seven times in the Europa League.

He suffered a hamstring injury in the recent 2-0 win over Newcastle United and has missed Arsenal's subsequent league games against West Brom and Chelsea. Luiz also missed the second leg of Arsenal's UEFA Europa League semi-final against Villarreal, which saw them exit the competition. He had, however, remained on the bench during the first leg.

The native of Sao Paulo represented his country in the 2014 World Cup and has made 57 appearances for Brazil, scoring three goals.

He's leaving Arsenal, but could David Luiz still do a job for a big club?
