MacAllister's brace melts down Toffees as they succumb to the danger zone

Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 02.01.22. | 18:52

Rafa Benitez's side was two goals down twice, missed a penalty, and even Gordon's brace couldn't help them to clinch a draw

This season was already quite disappointing for the Liverpool-based club, but another home loss to Brighton (3-2) has pushed Everton straight into a danger zone, only six points aloft of the 17th Watford.

Despite some sublime players in the Toffees squad, Rafa Benitez is struggling to impose his football philosophy at Goodison Park.

It started awfully for the hosts today, as MacAllister broke the deadlock after only three minutes.

The Goodison Park's roar was silenced instantly, but it became even worse soon after Burn was left alone on the far post for 2-0.

The very low came with Calvert-Lewin missing from the spot, what should have been Everton's maiden goal and a comeback ticket for the match.

Nevertheless, Benitez's slot bounced back in the second half, thanks to a talented Gordon who netted not once but twice. However, it proved insufficient for at least a draw, as MacAllister stepped up again for a screamer, following a lovely Mwepu's backheel assist.
