It didn’t take long for a club to show interest in a Manchester United player. In fact, the Madrid giants have lined up
Kobbie Mainoo’s future at Manchester United has sparked attention across Europe, with both Real Madrid and Atletico closely monitoring developments, alongside several Premier League rivals.
According to Daily Mail Sport, the two Madrid clubs are exploring the possibility of a season-long loan for the England international, whose minutes under Ruben Amorim have been scarce. With the transfer deadline fast approaching, the 20-year-old’s situation has quickly become one to watch.

Mainoo, a product of United’s academy, has yet to feature in either of the team’s opening league fixtures this season. Since returning from injury last December, he has found himself slipping down the pecking order — moving from guaranteed starter to bench option.
Although the midfielder is willing to remain at Old Trafford, he is eager for regular football and would not turn down a move offering Champions League exposure. Even so, United are reluctant to sanction a temporary departure. With only four recognised central midfielders in the squad, the club are unwilling to weaken their options unless a permanent transfer were on the table.
It is also still early in the campaign, and many at United believe Mainoo could yet play a significant role as the season progresses. His reduced status is striking, however, given that just a year ago he started England’s Euro 2024 final against Spain and later found the net in United’s shock FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.
Yet Amorim’s tactical setup — a 3-4-3 — does not appear to suit him, and his exclusion from the starting lineup has brought the issue to a head. On top of that, talks over a new contract have stalled, with United expected to make a final decision in the coming days.
