Making the most of his time: Camavinga takes course at Harvard after being snubbed by Deschamps

The Real Madrid midfielder decided to use the unexpected free time after being left out of the France World Cup squad and attend a course at a university located just 5 miles away from Les Blues camp

Every cloud has a silver lining.

When Eduardo Camavinga was left out of the France World Cup squad, many were stunned by Didier Deschamps' decision to omit a midfielder playing for Real Madrid. However, it is fair to say that the 23-year-old endured a disappointing campaign.

He started only 23 games for Los Blancos (out of 43 he played), averaging just over 50 minutes per appearance. Moreover, his silly red card - he picked up a second yellow card for holding onto the ball and delaying the restart of play - in the Champions League quarter-finals return leg against Bayern Munich might have doomed Madrid and sealed their UCL fate.

Therefore, it can be discussed whether Deschamps' choice was justified, but regardless, the decision has been made, and there is no turning back. Les Bleus are currently in France, where they'll play their final warm-up game against Northern Ireland tomorrow (22.10) before traveling to their World Cup base in Waltham, USA.

However, if the French, for instance, decided to take a walk to Cambridge, a city located just five miles away from their camp, they could run into Camavinga of all people!

With plenty of unexpected free time on his hands, the Angola-born midfielder decided to attend a course in entertainment and sport at Harvard Business School, and, thus, be as close as it gets to his compatriots.

He posted a photo of himself at Harvard on Instagram yesterday, accompanied by the caption "A few days of learning, listening and growing. Grateful for the experience at Harvard Business School."

And while Camavinga is hitting the books, Les Bleus will be preparing for their World Cup opener against Senegal (June 16, 22.00).

Time will tell who benefits more from the next few weeks: him in the lecture hall or them on the pitch.
