Man United B can't keep Foxes at bay; Man City are officially EPL Champions

In an extremely boring match-up between two of the top four teams, Leicester City earn three hugely important points in their Champions League pursuit

Ahead of this match, Man United have won all three of their Premier League games on a Tuesday this season, scoring 11 goals and conceding none. Leicester's defenders made such a streak come to an end. Final score 1-2.

United came out in a mixed line-up - not a single standard first team player. Only David De Gea imposed as a used name. Youngsters such as Greenwood, Williams, Elanga and Diallo were joined by Tuanzebe, Matic, Van De Beek, Mata, Telles and Bailly.

Solskjaer's intent was to rest the most important players for the jam-packed schedule Man United are facing - most importantly matches against Liverpool in the Premier League and Villareal in the Europa League final.

Leicester needed 10 minutes to take the lead at the Theater of Dreams. And it was done by Foxes' own young left back Luke Thomas. Thomas caught a killer cross before stroking a beautiful finish into the top right corner.

At 19 years and 335 days, Thomas is the youngest player to score his first Premier League goal in a match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

It didn't take long before the Red Devils leveled the score. United's teenage front duo took advantage of a mistake made by none other then Leicester goalscorer Thomas. In the 15th minute, Ivorian Amad Diallo found Mason Greenwood who sent the ball precisely into the bottom left corner to make it 1:1.

Just before the half-hour mark, Leicester could have been up front again. A dangerous attempt from Youri Tielemans was aimed towards the roof of the net, but De Gea pulled off a superb save and stopped the ball from going in.

Most of the game was a festival of redundant passing. Back lines of both teams shared hundreds of passes between them and it made the match hardly watchable.

Second half was equally slow - after 15 minutes in the second period finally one of the teams came close to the goal. De Gea was forced into action to thwart Kelechi Iheanacho - the Nigerian found himself some space after latching on to a pass and unleashed a shot to the bottom right corner but couldn't beat the Spaniard.

Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani came into play in the 66th minute but the visitors from King Power Stadium took the lead again just seconds later. Caglar Soyuncu outjumped the defence inside the goal box to meet the corner kick and scored with a great header into the roof of the net. De Gea had no chance.

Solskjaer tried avoiding defeat by bringing Bruno Fernandes on the pitch. It did bring energy to the game but Leicester's defence were organized enough to repel constant attacks of the hosts in the last 10 minutes or so.

With these three points, Leicester grabbed that 3rd place and are confident to play in the best European club competition next year. United had mathematical chances of reaching top of the league but with this defeat, their bitter rivals Manchester City take the trophy to Etihad.
