The Real Madrid midfielder, who has been in the spotlight in recent days following a clash with a teammate, has emerged as a transfer target for the English club
Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Federico Valverde, with the Uruguayan’s future at Real Madrid said to be in doubt ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to reports from The Mirror, tensions have risen behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabeu after Valverde was involved in a heated training-ground clash with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni. The incident allegedly ended with Valverde suffering a concussion that required hospital treatment.

The midfielder’s future at Real Madrid has been thrown into doubt following his altercation with Aurélien Tchouaméni, with club chiefs said to be furious internally. 👀

Although the 27-year-old later issued a public apology, the fallout appears to have damaged his standing within the club. Senior figures at Real Madrid are reportedly unhappy with the situation, and the dressing room is believed to have largely sided with Tchouameni, raising speculation that Valverde could be allowed to leave.
That uncertainty has put Manchester United on alert. The Premier League side are expected to revamp their midfield this summer, with Casemiro likely to depart and Manuel Ugarte also facing an uncertain future.
United had previously shown interest in Tchouameni, but the French international is not thought to be considering an exit from Madrid. As a result, Valverde has emerged as an intriguing alternative for the Old Trafford hierarchy.
Despite the recent controversy, Valverde remains one of Europe’s most accomplished midfielders. He has made more than 370 appearances for Real Madrid, winning multiple major honors, including the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles.
Manchester United are also monitoring other midfield targets such as Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba as they seek to inject energy and quality into the center of the pitch.
Any move for Valverde would require a major financial commitment. His contract with Real Madrid runs until 2029, and the Spanish giants would likely demand a fee in excess of £80 million. Still, if his relationship with the club has deteriorated beyond repair, a switch to the Premier League could become a realistic possibility.
